AceShowbiz - Timothee Chalamet's Paul Atreides is trying to regain his freedom in the new trailer of "Dune: Part Two". Against his mother Lady Jessica's (Rebecca Ferguson (II)) wish not to seek revenge for his father's death, the young Duke of Atreides is leading a war against the Harkonnens.
"This world is beyond cruelty. We've been fighting the Harkonnens for decades; my family's been fighting them for centuries, and they were massacred alongside my father," Paul says in the video, trying to convince Chani (Zendaya Coleman), Stilgar (Javier Bardem) and the Fremen to join his fight.
Despite gaining the Fremen's trust and is believed to be the Kwisatz Haderach, an all-powerful, clairvoyant being who can save the world, Paul is dealing with his self-doubt. Following a reunion with his mentor Gurney Halleck (Javier Bardem), he expresses his concerns about his visions.
"Why is that a bad thing? Use it," Gurney tells Paul, who reveals, "Because all my visions lead to horror." Gurney opines, "Because you lose control," before Paul interjects, "Because I gain it."
But Paul appears to gradually change his mind about the meaning of his visions. "It's not a prophecy. It's a story," he says, before determining to seek control of things in his life. "He who can destroy a thing has the real control of it," he declares at the end of the video.
The trailer also gives first look as Christopher Walken's Emperor Shaddam IV and features his daughter Princess Irulan, played by Florence Pugh, as well as Austin Butler's Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, Baron Harkonnen's nephew.
Along with the trailer, Warner Bros. released the official synopsis of the movie. It reads, " 'Dune: Part Two' will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee."
Dubbed "an epic war movie" by director Denis Villeneuve, the "Dune" sequel is set to be released in theaters across the nation on November 3.
