AceShowbiz - John Amos' daughter stood by her claims saying her father is a victim of elder abuse. After the representative of the "Good Times" actor debunked her statements, Shannon set the record straight through an Instagram video, insisting that she's not "crazy" to make up the story.
"All due respect to my father's response, I understand that this is embarrassing and upsetting, and probably not what he would have wanted me to do, but it is in his best interest," Shannon said in the clip shared on Thursday, June 8. "There's definitely another side to that story."
"You all have no idea what is really going on," Shannon added, blasting TMZ for reporting that her father denied her claims. "Do some homework, do some digging, do some research... My reputation and integrity [are] everything."
Shannon went on to note that "My dad's closest friends are standing with me on this. Yes, closest family and friends." She further stressed, "I'm gonna stand on the truth."
Shannon launched a GoFundMe on Wednesday, hoping to raise $50,000 for her father "who was hospitalized far away in Memphis, Tennessee" back in May. She said she had a FaceTime conversation with her dad, during which she witnessed her father suffering "unbearable" pain. She said she flew with a family friend to Memphis and found out that her father was "fighting for his life in the ICU."
Claiming that her father "had fallen victim to elder abuse and financial exploitation," she said she's working with the Colorado Bureau of Investigations and the local Sheriff's Department in John's home state to "seek justice." Shannon said she's seeking financial aid to help fund their legal pursuit of catching and prosecuting the alleged perpetrators.
She also wrote that the money raised will be used to cover her father's medical needs and provide him "a safe haven." She assured, "Every penny raised will be entrusted to a special fund for my father, dedicated solely to his care, legal fees, and aftercare."
John's representative, however, told TMZ that no one is abusing him and he has not been fighting for his life. He said the details shared by his daughter couldn't be further from the truth, but he's got no idea as to why Shannon launched the online fundraiser.
