After Shannon Amos started a GoFundMe page in which she said her father became a victim of elder abuse and financial crimes, the 'Coming to America' actor says his daughter was lying about his health condition.

AceShowbiz - John Amos is not fighting for his life in the hospital despite his daughter's claims. After Shannon Amos started a GoFundMe page in which she said her father has fallen victim to "elder abuse and financial exploitation," the actor has debunked her claims.

Setting the record straight on his condition, John has told TMZ that no one is abusing him and he has not been fighting for his life. He said the details shared by his daughter couldn't be further from the truth, but he's got no idea as to why Shannon launched the online fundraiser.

John's rep Belinda Foster additionally explained that the 83-year-old star has been hospitalized because his lower body was filling with fluid, all the way to his abdomen, and causing issues with his heart. However, the rep assured that his condition wasn't as bad as Shannon had suggested, informing that doctors have been able to drain all of it and John has recently started to feel 100%.

John's clarification comes after his daughter launched a GoFundMe on Wednesday, June 7 for the "Roots" star. Hoping to raise $50,000 for her father, she claimed that she received "a distressing call" from her father, "who was hospitalized far away in Memphis, Tennessee," in May.

She said she had a FaceTime conversation with John, during which she witnessed her father suffering "unbearable" pain. She said she flew with a family friend to Memphis and found out that her father was "fighting for his life in the ICU."

Claiming that her father "had fallen victim to elder abuse and financial exploitation," she said she's working with the Colorado Bureau of Investigations and the local Sheriff's Department in John's home state to "seek justice." Shannon said she's seeking financial aid to help fund their legal pursuit in catching and prosecuting the alleged perpetrators.

She also wrote that the money raised will be used to cover her father's medical needs and provide him "a safe haven." She assured, "Every penny raised will be entrusted to a special fund for my father, dedicated solely to his care, legal fees, and aftercare."

"His home had been violated, stripped of anything valuable," she went on stressing. "The cruelty inflicted upon my dad leaves me questioning what kind of human could commit such acts. Yet, we hold onto hope that justice will prevail."
