Nearly a month after mourning the death of his family dog, the 'Saturday Night Live' alum is caught on camera dog shopping with girlfriend Chase Sui Wonders.

AceShowbiz - Pete Davidson has found himself under fire. The former star of "Saturday Night Live" actor received strong criticisms after he and girlfriend Chase Sui Wonders were spotted buying a dog from a pet store instead of adopting.

In late May, the 29-year-old comedian was unraveled to be buying a dog from pet store Citipups in New York City. A clip of him filling out paperwork alongside his 27-year-old girlfriend was shared on Instagram Story on Wednesday, May 31 by the pet store.

After the story was picked up by Page Six and a screenshot of Pete and Chase was shared on its Instagram account, many were quick to voice their disapproval. One protested, "ADOPT DON'T SHOP bro." Another jeered, "Buying a dog? Disgusting." A third bluntly stated, "Buying a dog??? Gross! I didn't even know that those sort of pet shops were still legal."

The caption of Page Six's post read, "#PeteDavidson and #ChaseSuiWonders are taking their relationship to the next level, as the pair were filmed buying a dog from Citipups." In response, a user fumed, "Citipups? really? f**k that's disappointing." Others wrote such comments as, "Stop supporting that terrible puppy mill!" and "Adopt Don't Shop! [angry face emoji]. That place is the worst too!"

Despite the many criticisms, Pete still found support from a number of others. One backed the comedian by reminding, "In my town, all the pet stores (local and chain) work with various rescues....so it may look like he is 'buying' it but who knows where the dog came from. Also, so we should kill all dogs rather than buy/adopt in pet stores now? And furthermore, adopting is buying BTW nothing's free."

Another saw a positive side of Pete's dog shopping by commenting, "Aaawww. Pete's family's doggo recently passed away. Soooo good to see this. So many animals in need of adoption." A third pointed out, "Omg… let them get a dog without all the lecturing. Not all states have banned pet stores from buying dogs."

Pete was spotted buying a dog from the pet shop nearly a month after he announced the death of his family dog, Henry. In the beginning of May, he shared via an Instagram post his sadness for losing Henry. "I wanna use today to remember my dog Henry. Yesterday we lost a key member of the Davidson family," he wrote at the time.

"Henry was only 2 years old but unfortunately got very sick very fast. My mom, sister and I got Henry at the beginning of the pandemic and he saved our lives. Not sure I'd even be around without him. He was the happiest and sweetest dog ever," the star of "The King of Staten Island" added.
