The 'Your Body Is a Wonderland' crooner admits he didn't 'do it very well' when talking about his 2013 single, which has long been speculated to be about his singer ex-girlfriend.

AceShowbiz - John Mayer seems to regret pouring his heartbreak into a song. Reflecting on his 2013 track "Paper Doll", which is widely believed to be about his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift, he conceded that the song may be "a little b***hy."

"I wonder if people don't like it because it sounds a little pissed off," the rock star told his crowd during a concert at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California while nonchalantly strumming on his guitar. "I don't like 'pissed off' as a song. I think it was more hurt."

"Is there something about it that's a little b***hy? I try not to give b***hiness in the song, and that happens sometimes," the "Your Body Is a Wonderland" hitmaker added. "I guess I don't do it very well - sarcastic b***h - but I didn't really see it. I guess it is sort of a little bit like, 'Meehhh.' "

John released "Paper Doll" as the first single off his sixth studio album "Paradise Valley". Fans have long speculated that it was in response to Taylor's 2010 song "Dear John", which is seemingly about their past relationship.

John and Taylor were briefly romantically linked from November 2009 until February 2010 after they collaborated on his song "Half of My Heart".

While neither of the two artists has ever confirmed that the songs are about each other, the pop superstar said of her song "Dear John" upon its release, "There are things that were little nuances of the relationship, little hints. Everyone will know, so I don't really have to send out emails on this one."

John's comments on "Paper Doll" came on the brink of Taylor's alleged split from her longtime boyfriend Joe Alwyn. The pair, who were dating for over six years since late 2016, reportedly called it quits "a few weeks ago" because of "differences in their personalities."
