AceShowbiz - Taylor Swift has been spotted for the first time since news of her split from Joe Alwyn broke over the weekend. The country-turned-pop superstar looked stylish in her first outing following the end of her relationship with the British actor.
On Monday, April 10, the singer/songwriter stepped out for dinner in New York's West Village with longtime music collaborator Jack Antonoff. She opted for a casual yet chic style in a black off-the-shoulder top and baggy embellished jeans made by fashion brand AREA.
Taylor seemingly made statement with her outfit as her denim pants featured a blinged out butterfly, which is a symbol of a rebirth and transformation. She completed her look with a metallic Paco Rabanne handbag, a dainty necklace and chunky Mary Jane heels from Sam Edelman.
The 33-year-old appeared to keep positive attitude despite her alleged breakup, smiling on the streets of the Big Apple in the first image since the split news.
Entertainment Tonight first reported that Taylor and Joe split after six years of dating. According to the outlet, the split was amicable and "it was not dramatic." A source told the site, "The relationship had just run its course... It's why [Joe] hasn't been spotted at any shows." Page Six added that the pair broke up "a few weeks ago."
New details have since emerged on what led to the couple's breakup. A source close to them tells PEOPLE that the split was largely caused by "differences in their personalities." The source explains, "They've had rough patches before and always worked things out, so friends thought they would take some time apart but eventually come back together," but "ultimately" the Grammy winner and the British actor "weren't the right fit for one another."
Another sources tells Daily Mail that their career differences caused a rift in the relationship. "The bottom line for the difficulties in their relationship was that Taylor's career took priority over Joe's - which can be awkward for a couple when it's not balanced," the source argues.
"This drove them apart and ultimately, they both realized they were not on the same page anymore," it's further claimed. "It's been hard for Joe trying to make it in Hollywood and not quite becoming leading man material while dating one of the most famous women in the world over the last six years."
"It was easier during the pandemic when it was just the two of them, but once things returned to normal, Taylor Swift the superstar emerged, and their differences were even more apparent," the source explains. "They really made a go of it and tried everything they could but ultimately were unable to save the relationship."
