According to multiple sources, the palace hopes the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will attend the historic event, which is set to take place at London's Westminster Abbey on May 6.

AceShowbiz - Everything has apparently been set for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to fly to the U.K. for King Charles' coronation on May 6. According to multiple sources, the palace hopes the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be there for the historic event.

"There have been lengthy discussions between the Sussexes and the palace, there is a time crunch on this, of course," a royal insider tells Page Six. "It's such a historical event and it's hoped that Harry and Meghan will be there."

The news outlet, however, notes that the ultimate decision whether the couple will attend the coronation still lies in Harry's hands. "All families are difficult, but this is no normal family, of course," the source adds. "Harry has a lot of questions about how the event will work."

While people are talking about whether Princess Kate Middleton will wear a tiara to the coronation, the royal informant claims that Meghan is unlikely to have access to the family jewels. The former actress is only able to access jewels that Harry has gifted her already.

Prior to this, it was said that Charles is planning to have a more "slimmed down" ceremony when he is crowned on May 6 at London's Westminster Abbey. The British monarch will allegedly appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony with only 15 working royals to mark his coronation.

Alongside Queen Consort Camilla, who will be known as the Queen after he is crowned, Charles will reportedly be joined by Prince William and Princess Kate. The Prince and Princess of Wales' three children, Prince George, nine, Princess Charlotte, seven, and for-year-old Prince Louis, will also appear on the famous balcony.

Meanwhile, it's said there are no plans to include Prince Harry and Meghan among the final group of 15 if they attend the coronation. Prince Charles' disgraced brother Prince Andre is also said to have been left out of the line-up.

The source claimed, "The King has been very clear who he wants to represent the monarchy. There is little room for sentiment, this is a State occasion, not a family occasion and it is right that only the working members of the family are there at the big public moment."

Meanwhile, Prince George has been tapped to serve as one of King Charles' Pages of Honour at his grandfather's coronation. The 9-year-old would become the youngest future king to play an official role at such a ceremony in helping to carry the monarch's robes at the ceremony.

"His parents are very excited and delighted that he is a page. It's something that his parents have thought long and hard about and are very much looking forward to - and I'm sure George is, too," a spokesperson for the Prince and Princess of Wales told PEOPLE. He will join Lord Oliver Chomondeley, 13, Nicholas Barclay, also 13, and 12-year-old Ralph Tollemache, who are all sons of the king's friends.

As for Queen Consort Camilla, she chose her three grandsons, 13-year-old twins Gus and Louis Lopes and 12-year-old Freddy Parker Bowles, as well as her 11-year-old great-nephew Arthur Elliot to be her Pages of Honour. All eight boys will wear matching scarlet uniforms and will be part of the procession going through the Nave of Westminster Abbey.
