AceShowbiz - Damar Hamlin has expressed his remorse after facing backlash over his jacket at the 2023 Super Bowl. Having been accused of blasphemy with the outfit, the Buffalo Bills safety took to social media to set the record straight.
When addressing the matter, the 24-year-old wrote on Twitter, "After talking with my parents I understand how my coat could have offended some people." He continued, "It was never my intentions to hurt or disrespect anyone, the coat is abstract art to me. It says Eternal which I am Eternally thankful to my Savior!"
In a follow-up post, Damar added, "My beliefs and Relationship with God is not tied to symbolic images." He then noted, "I will learn from this and continue to walk in Love as I ALWAYS have. Matthew 7:1-5."
The back of the jacket in question featured an abstract illustration of Jesus on the cross under the word "ETERNAL". The front, meanwhile, featured an abstract depiction of Jesus' face and appears to reference a Bible verse that reads, "Without end or beginning there is no day and no night."
