The 19-year-old 'So You Think You Can Dance' judge makes use of her Instagram account to celebrate the milestone, noting that she is proud of '17 year old JoJo.'

AceShowbiz - JoJo Siwa is marking the second anniversary of her coming out as gay. The YouTube star made use of her Instagram account to celebrate the milestone, noting that she's proud of herself.

On Saturday, January 21, JoJo reposted a picture of herself that she used when she revealed to the world that she is gay back in 2021. "2 years ago today," she wrote alongside a picture of her wearing a T-shirt that read, "Best. Gay. Cousin. Ever." She added in the caption, "now looking back on everything…. I'm SO proud of 17 year old JoJo."

JoJo's coming out post arrived after the "Dancing with the Stars" alum posted footage of herself lip syncing along to Lady GaGa's LGBTQ anthem "Born This Way". It prompted people to speculate that she was making an announcement about her own sexuality.

The teen star later confirmed that she is gay in an interview on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon". Speaking with host Jimmy Fallon, the "So You Think You Can Dance" judge admitted that "it was a really big risk posting" the shirt photo.

She continued, "But if I lost everything that I've created because of being myself and because of loving who I want to love I don't want it. That's not what I want if I can't love who I want to love."

After she came out, JoJo has used her platform to advocate for LGBTQ representation. That included calling out Candace Cameron Bure, who said that faith-based network Great American Family would focus on "traditional marriage." In response to the controversial remark, JoJo wrote on Instagram Story, "Honestly, I can't believe after everything that went down just a few months ago, that she would not only create a movie with intention of excluding LGBTQIA+, but then also talk about it in the press. This is rude and hurtful to a whole community of people."
