AceShowbiz - Kim Cattrall's mother Shane Cattrall sadly passed away at the age of 93. The former "Sex and the City" star confirmed her mom's passing via Instagram on Tuesday, December 20.
The 66-year-old actress broke the devastating news by sharing several pictures of the two together. In the caption, she penned, "Shane Cattrall 1929 - 2022. Rest in peace Mum [a red heart emoj]."
Many have since offered their condolences. One in particular was "Queer as Folk" reboot creator Stephen Dunn, who wrote, "sending all my love." British comedian Alan Carr commented, "Sorry darling. Sending you lots of love." Canadian hockey reporter Christine Simpson added, "Oh Kim. My heart goes out to you. Mums are the best."
Shane's passing months after she celebrated her 93rd birthday in March. At that time, her daughter Kim shared a sweet tribute alongside a sweet selfie. She wrote in the accompanying message, "Happy 93rd B'day Mum! We're so lucky to still have you with us."
In May, Kim shared a sweet tribute to Shane to celebrate Mother's Day. "Happy Mum's Day Mum. 93 Years young," she wrote alongside a photo of her hugging Shane.
Kim has gotten candid about her mother's influence on her life. When sitting down with The Guardian in 2019, she revealed, "My mother's childhood was shocking and dramatic.
"Her father abandoned my grandmother, leaving her in terrible poverty, struggling to bring up three children," the Liverpool-born star continued. "As I've got older that's inspired me to want to tell stories about real women who are not Superwoman but need extraordinary powers to survive."
