AceShowbiz - Miley Cyrus continues to tease her return. After fans spotted cryptic billboards in cities stating "New year, new Miley", the "Wrecking Ball" hitmaker launched a teaser video as well as a countdown for her new era.
On Monday, December 19, the pop star turned to her Instagram account to share a video of a cryptic roadside sign in Los Angeles emblazoned with the words, "NEW YEAR, NEW MILEY." The phrase is flanked by close-up shots of a lower body wearing a strappy red thong and a tattooed hand digging into a leg.
In the comments section, fans rushed to speculate about what the promise of "New Miley" could mean, with many hoping for a new musical era. "Give us a sign if new song is coming sooner than we think Miley," one wrote. Another declared, "I'm ready no matter what the genre is gonna be," adding a fire emoji. Other comments included a request to "Headline Coachella PLEASE!" with one particular fan asking, "DOES THIS MEAN A TOUR?!!!"
To add to the mystery, Miley also launched a countdown clock on her official website, which is set to count down to the stroke of midnight on January 1, 2023, the same time she just so happens to be hosting NBC's New Year's Eve special with Dolly Parton.
Last week, Miley placed some cryptic posters teasing her new era across big cities like Los Angeles and Copenhagen. The posters feature a picture of a hand holding her thigh, a close-up photo of a woman's red lingerie and an image of a woman bending her body. The words "New year, new Miley" were written over the image.
Fans believe that Miley will release new music soon as she recently appeared in Rae Sremmurd's Instagram post with her former "Bangerz" era producer, Mike Will Made It. "EAR DRUMMERS & HEAD BANGERZ!" Rae wrote in the caption of the post. Adding to the theories, PEOPLE reported that Rae also posted "2023" on his Instagram Story, coinciding with Miley's timeline on the posters.
