AceShowbiz - Sydney Sweeney has once again addressed the controversy surrounding her mom's MAGA-themed birthday party. When speaking about the matter in an interview with British GQ, the Cassie Howard depicter on "Euphoria" likened the backlash to "wildfire."
"Honestly I feel like nothing I say can help the conversation," the 25-year-old beauty told the outlet. "It's been turning into a wildfire and nothing I can say will take it back to the correct track."
Sydney, who admitted that she reads negative comments online, went on to claim that people urged her to get media trained. "I'll see people say, 'She needs to get media training.' Why, do you want to see a robot?" the actress noted. "I don't think there's any winning."
Sydney landed in hot water back in August after posting on Instagram pictures and a video from her mom Lisa's 60th birthday party. People slammed her over the Western-themed bash for its customized "Make Sixty Great Again" hats donned by guests.
In one of the pictures, a male guest at her mom's "h*edown party" was seen bearing what many fans identified as a Blue Lives Matter design. It also included a video showing partygoers wearing red MAGA-inspired baseball caps. Sydney's brother Trent, meanwhile, clarified in a separate Instagram post that the hats read, "Make Sixty Great Again."
Sydney, who grew up in Idaho and Washington State before moving to Los Angeles as a teen, has defended herself though. At that time, she wrote on Twitter, "You guys this is wild. An innocent celebration for my moms milestone 60th birthday has turned into an absurd political statement, which was not the intention." She added, "Please stop making assumptions. Much love to everyone and Happy Birthday Mom!"
