AceShowbiz - Aaron Carter was working on a sitcom before his shocking death on Saturday, November 5. It has been revealed that the pop star and rapper filmed the pilot episode of "Group", an independent sitcom about mental health recovery.

In the wake of his death, Brian Farmer, writer and director of the sitcom, shared that he received a permission from the "I Want Candy" hitmaker's management to move forward with the pilot episode. It will be shopped around to networks once it's finished and dedicated to the star.

Farmer said in a statement released on Tuesday, November 8 that he "was heartbroken to hear the shocking news about Aaron." He also detailed his experience working with Carter.

"Aaron was so excited about the show and helping raise awareness for mental health, a topic he was very passionate about," he divulged. "He said being a part of the show gave him something positive to work toward, and I'll forever cherish that."

"He was such a kind soul and a pleasure to work with, and he will be dearly missed by everyone who was a part of Group and countless others. My heart goes out to his family and friends," he continued.

On "Group", Carter was said to play a fictionalized version of himself. He was reportedly looking forward to opening up about his real-life struggles through the show. The show will also star Samm Levine, Olive Chiacchia, Ari Stidham, Ashley Brinkman, Kevin Clayette, Abdoulaye NGom, Anne Judson-Yager and Mike Starr.

Earlier this week, Chiacchia took to social media to share a series of photos from the set of the series while paying tribute to the late star. "Aaron, this isn't how or why I wanted to post these photos. I was waiting until the release of the pilot. I had the pleasure of playing your love interest in Group, and you were truly the most loving, professional, kind and talented performer I've worked with," the actress wrote in a note on her Instagram page.

Chiacchia went on to say, "I wish the world saw you the way I do, and saw your side of the story. Everyone knew your struggles, so I share this story in hopes that you will be remembered for your heart and your light. My heart goes out to your family, loved ones, Melanie, and your son."

Carter was found dead at his house in Lancaster, California on Saturday morning. A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department told PEOPLE a body was discovered just before 11 A.M., but police did not officially identify the victim.

According to police sources, the star was found by a house sitter in his bathtub. It was also said that there were prescription pills and drug paraphernalia in his bedroom. A cause of death has not yet been determined, but the sources believe he lost consciousness and drowned.
