Drake Postpones Show Out of Respect for Takeoff's Funeral

The 'Way 2 Sexy' hitmaker moves the date of his upcoming Apollo Theatre performance, which was originally set for November 11, the same day as Takeoff's funeral at Atlanta's State Farm Arena.

AceShowbiz - Drake is giving some time for the hip-hop community to mourn the death of Takeoff. The Canadian superstar has postponed his upcoming show at the Apollo Theatre in New York City out of respect for the Migos star's funeral.

Drizzy's show was originally set to take place on Friday, November 11, the same day Takeoff's funeral will be held at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. But the "Staying Alive" rhymer has moved the date to December 6 and added a second date at the iconic New York venue on December 7.

"The Apollo show has been moved to allow us to pay respect to our dear friend this weekend," so the 36-year-old announced it on his Instagram Story on Monday, November 7. "We have added a second date for the fans."

Drake postponed his show which was originally set for the same day of Takeoff's funeral.

Drake previously took to his Instagram page to pay tribute to Takeoff. "I got the best memories of all of us seeing the world together and bringing light to every city we touch," he captioned a photo of him and the late rap star performing together onstage. "That's what I'll focus on for now rest easy space man Take."

He once again addressed Takeoff's tragic passing at the album release party for "Her Loss", his new collaborative album with 21 Savage. "I'd just like to send our deepest condolences from the family to the entire QC, to our brother Quavo, to our brother Offset, to the friends and loved ones of the legendary, unprecedented Takeoff - a guy that I knew for a long, long time," he said.

He added, "I always talk about the fact that this was one family. My friends in the music industry are not friends, they're family. So, our deepest condolences - tragic loss for all of us and, you know, a dark cloud over this business that we love so much."

Meanwhile, Takeoff's funeral is set for this coming Friday, with Rev. Jesse Curney, III of New Mercies Christian Church officiating the services. The funeral will begin at 1:00 P.M., according to Atlanta radio station V-103.
