AceShowbiz - For those who dream to see Tom Brady joining "The Masked Singer", this may be disappointing. The NFL star has made use of his Twitter account to address wild rumors that he's filming for the hit FOX show amid his unusual absence from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers camp.
On Monday, August 22, Brady shut down the fan theory while promoting his upcoming apparel brand, BRADY. "Wasn't on the masked singer last week. Was wearing a mask though," he wrote in the cheeky post.
Prior to this, a few people on both Reddit and Twitter freaked out as a conspiracy theory about what Brady was up to during his break emerged online. They were convinced that Brady was filming the show as he signed on to broadcast with FOX after his career is over. Additionally, his pal Gronk previously appeared on the popular show.
A fan shared on Twitter some "main selling points" which could prove that rumors about the quarterback joining "The Masked Singer" could be true. Among them were "the filming dates line up with his absence," "he perhaps committed to being on it when he was retired and then unretired, but had signed a contract" and "signed a deal with Fox to broadcast after retirement and TMS is on Fox." The person also added, "I also asked an unnamed player who would know via text 'would Brady do this' and he said 'haha yes 100%' Guys I think I'm convinced."
Some excited fans quickly chimed in with one of them writing on Twitter, "I could see retired Brady signing up for The Masked Singer. Loves musicals, something fun for the kids, Gronk went on a few years ago, relationship with Fox. Would think he'd just opt out now. But it's not totally crazy." Someone else added, "If Tom Brady's masked singer outfit is not a goat, we riot."
Despite his denial, it should be noted that everything about "The Masked Singer" is a secret. The celebrities performing on the show would only be revealed after they were eliminated. It means even if Brady did film "The Masked Singer", he wouldn't admit it due to the show's nature.
Season 8 of "The Masked Singer" is set to premiere on September 21 on FOX.
