AceShowbiz - Kelis recently made headlines after she called out Beyonce Knowles for featuring a sample of her 1999 single "Get Along with You" in her new album "Renaissance" without reaching out to her. Now, the "Milkshake" hitmaker appeared to have something to say about Rihanna's music.
On Thursday, July 28, Kelis was seen responding to a fan who insinuated that Kelis paved the way for the "Umbrella" singer. "I feel like Rihanna rode a wave created by Kelis," the fan wrote in an Instagram comment.
Catching wind of it, Kelis replied, "let's not open that Pandora's box today lol." She added, "one step at a time friend."
After her remarks were reposted on The Shade Room's Instagram page, Internet users were quick to blast Kelis. Defending Rihanna, one person said, "Ain't never heard Rihanna mention a milkshake not once." Another user commented, "She feeling too sassy today."
"it's the entertainment industry. Everybody pulls inspiration from everywhere. Pls okay," one person continued. "Now Kelis, sis I like you girl but go to bed!" another user urged, while another comment read, "kelis confuses me more than anything has ever confused me my entire life tbh."
One other said, "Ard now lets leave RiRI out of it cuz she don't bother nobody she going too far now go to bed girl." Echoing the sentiment, a Rihanna fan added, "Girl don't ever play with Rihanna."
Kelis' comments arrived after she slammed Beyonce for sampling her 1999 single "Get Along with You" on her new song "Energy". "My mind is blown too because the level of disrespect and utter ignorance of all 3 parties involved is astounding," the 42-year-old wrote underneath a post by her fan page on Instagram. "I heard about this the same way everyone else did."
The ex-wife of rapper Nas went on fuming, "Nothing is ever as it seems. Some of the people in this business have no soul or integrity and they have everyone fooled."
Beyonce has yet to respond to Kelis' statement.
