The 30-year-old hip-hop star shows his support for the former president when weighing in on Kanye West's failed presidential bid in 2020 in a new interview.

AceShowbiz - DaBaby declared that he is a supporter of Donald Trump. When appearing on "Full Send Podcast", the "ROCKSTAR" hitmaker declared that he supports the former president because he granted Kodak Black a prison pardon.

The 30-year-old hip-hop star made the confession when weighing in on Kanye West's failed presidential bid in 2020. He noted that he would have voted for his "Jail pt 2" collaborator because "he's gangsta."

When asked his view on Donald, DaBaby replied, "Do I f**k with Trump? Now, hell yeah […] Trump is a gangsta." The emcee, whose real name is Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, aded, "N***a let Kodak out."

Donald gave Kodak his pardon on his final full day as POTUS. The "Wake Up in the Sky" rapper was previously sentenced to 46 months in Kentucky's United States Penitentiary Big Sandy after pleading guilty to unlawful possession of marijuana and criminal possession of a firearm. He was then released from prison in January 2021.

Also being granted the pardon was rapper Lil Wayne, who faced federal weapons charges to which he pled guilty in 2020. "President Trump and his administration have been tireless advocates on behalf of the African-American community," the two MCs' attorney Bradford Cohen said in a statement. "These pardons are a perfect example of this administration following up on its reforms and commitments."

Upon his release, Kodak turned to Twitter to extend his gratitude to the Republican. "I Want To Thank The President @RealDonaldTrump For His Commitment To Justice Reform And Shortening My Sentence," he wrote at that time. "I Also Want To Thank Everyone For Their Support And Love. It Means More Than You Will Ever Know. I Want To Continue Giving Back, Learning And Growing."

Kodak has since often sung Donald praises. "I'm a real one, Trump a real one," he said in a virtual interview with TMZ last March. He also showed off an autographed MAGA hat he got from Donald after his release.
