Daniel Craig Reportedly the First Choice for Mister Fantastic Over John Krasinski

The 'No Time to Die' actor is said to have opted out of a cameo appearance in 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' because of 'an uptick in COVID cases.'

AceShowbiz - Daniel Craig could have been the newest Mister Fantastic. If the news is to be trusted, the British actor was the first choice to play the Fantastic Four member before John Krasinski ended up taking on the role in "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness".

Sharing the "fun fact" was Deadline reporter Justin Kroll. Taking to Twitter, the journalist spilled, "Fun fact, Krasinski wasn't the first choice, the actor originally set to play the role was all set to shoot but when there was an uptick in COVID cases, he backed out as he was living in London and didn't think the quick shoot wasn't worth risk of bringing back COVID to the fam."

In a separate tweet, he went on explaining why Craig was willing to film "Knives Out 2" around the same time though. "For those asking about why he was able to shoot KNIVES, that was months of shooting and if he got COVID, he would be the only one infected," he divulged. "STRANGE was maybe a day of shooting and worry was he could head back home and not know he had it and give to daughter who was 2 at the time."

As Disney has not responded to the report, some were questioning the legitimacy of this story, especially considering the fact that Craig looks nothing like Reed Richards, whereas Krasinski is a dead ringer. One person appeared to sarcastically respond to the rumor as tweeting that the "No Time to Die" star was indeed considered for "Doctor Strange 2", but for another role.

"So now that the rumours about Daniel Craig originally being in #doctorstrange #inthemultiverseOfmadness are out I think I can talk about what I heard on the film about him," the said person tweeted. "Craig was originally supposed to be Balder The Brave who was part of the illuminati. He was talked into killing himself by Wanda. He couldn't shoot the scenes though and in the reshoots they replaced him with Krasinski."
