The 'Juice' hitmaker previously was slammed for insinuating in a now-deleted tweet that if Swae Lee and Future are considered rappers, there is no doubt that she's also one.

AceShowbiz - Just like Doja Cat, there has been a debate whether Lizzo is considered a rapper. The "Truth Hurts" hitmaker previously received backlash after she compared herself to Swae Lee and Future whom many called rappers. In a new interview, the Grammy-winning musician revisited the viral moment.

In an interview with Power 105.1 FM, host Angela Yee asked, "So, is Lizzo a rapper?" To the question, the "Juice" performer responded, "Yo, that question is crazy 'cause there's this thing--I got f**king annihilated on the internet, early days, when I was tweeting."

"I was like, yo, there's a lotta racism in genre, you know what I mean? There's a lot of rappers that are actually singers, but they call them rappers because of their aesthetic, you know what I'm saying?" Lizzo added. "These rappers be singing they heart out but they got chains and they got the grill [so people call them rappers]."

She went on to opine, "And they're using melody to create music and I think it's a beautiful thing. So, I was like, yo, I rap and I sing and I do the same, but I am as much of a rapper as Swae Lee or Future. And I got destroyed! They was like, 'Shut up! No fat b***hes in the club!' I was like, what did I do?!"

Lizzo was referring to her controversial tweet about both emcees back in August 2019. "Sometimes I get pissed that there are people who call future & swae lee rappers and still question whether or not I belong in the rap conversation…," she wrote in a since-delete tweet. "But then I remember I have the #4 song in the country, laugh, go back to my dream job and log off."

After she noticed the backlash and removed the tweet, Lizzo wrote in a separate post, "I forgot that the internet is not the place for my emotions anymore -- ?? I love everybody goodnight." She also made it clear that she had no bad feelings for the "High Off Life" artist and the "Sunflower" spitter.

"I LOVE future & swae bruhhhhhh… the point went straight over y'alls heads…I'm just saying we all share a similar rap sing style…," Lizzo clarified. She later promoted the two rappers' latest singles, "Stream 'Sunflower' by Swae Lee Stream 'The Wizrd' by Future."
