Host Ryan Seacrest announced Kenedi's exit in the April 11 episode of "American Idol". He said that Kenedi decided to leave the competition due to "personal reasons," prompting fans to speculate that she has signed with a record company.

While the show was still airing, Kenedi took to her social media accounts to release a statement. "For personal reasons, I'm unable to continue on American Idol," she began the statement. "This has been one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make, but I know it's necessary."

"I'm so grateful to American Idol, the judges, the producers, the amazing contestants, and all the fans who have supported me.
