The trailer for the highly-anticipated season also teases the whereabouts of Chief Hopper (David Harbour), who was presumed dead in season 3 of the hit Netflix series.

AceShowbiz - Netflix has finally released the first official trailer for highly-anticipated season 4 of "Stranger Things". The new video, which arrives nearly three years after fans last saw Eleven and her buddies, teases what fans can expect in the forthcoming season and that includes a new grimy monster which will haunt Hawkins.

Kicking off the trailer which was released on Tuesday, April 12, someone says in voiceover, "You've broken everything. Your suffering is almost at an end." A glimpse of the new monster later flashes on the screen.

Somewhere else in the trailer, Eleven, Mike, Lucas, Dustin, Steve, Will, Hopper, Nancy, Jonathan and Joyce are seen trying to live their lives back to normal after Billie's death. However, "everything has been a total disaster" ever since he left, Max says. "For a while, we tried to be happy, normal. But it's impossible," she adds as she's seen finding a big clock on the wall of their school.

Meanwhile, Dr. Owens tries to convince Eleven, who has lost her powers thanks to the Mind Flayer, to help him win an upcoming war. "I relocated you guys far from Hawkins because I thought you'd be safe," he says. "A war is coming. I'm afraid your friends in Hawkins are very much in the eye of the storms. … Without you, we can't win this war."

The trailer also teases the whereabouts of Chief Hopper, who was presumed dead at the end of season 3. It appears that he is somehow imprisoned in Russia. He is also forced to fight a Demogorgon with a ragtag group of soldiers. "I was convinced I was here for some other reason. Maybe I can still help. Even if it's the last thing I do," he says.

Near the end of the trailer, fans are offered a full look at the new monster. "You have lost," it warns.

Returning for the new season of the smash-hit Netflix series are Millie Bobby Brown, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, Noah Schnapp, Winona Ryder, Joe Keery, Natalie Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Maya Hawke, Cara Buono, Priah Ferguson and Brett Gelman. They will be joined by new cast members including Campbell Bower, Joseph Quinn and Eduardo Franco.

Vol. 1 of "Stranger Things" season 4 premieres on May 27 on Netflix. Meanwhile, Vol. 2 is set to follow on July 1.
