The actress, who gained attention for her portrayal of a student activist on the controversial drama series, was reportedly filming for upcoming series 'Kiss Six Sense' at the time of her death.

AceShowbiz - South Korean actor Kim Mi-soo has passed away at a young age. The actress, who starred on the recent series "Snowdrop", died unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 5, according to her agency. She was only 29 years old.

"Kim Mi Soo suddenly passed away on January 5," the agency, Landscape Entertainment, said in a statement to the media. "The bereaved family is currently very heartbroken by the sudden mournful news."

"We sincerely ask you to refrain from making up rumors or speculative reports so that the bereaved family, who are in shock and grief-stricken, can reverently commemorate the deceased," the statement went on to read. "As per her family's wishes, the funeral will be held quietly in private."

"Please wish for Kim Mi Soo to rest in peace, and once again, we offer our deepest condolences to the deceased," the agency added. No cause of death is given as of now. Her wake will reportedly be held at Taeneung Sungsim Funeral Service.

Kim is best known for her role on "Snowdrop" as Jung-min, a student activist who shares a women's dormitory with protagonist Young-ro, portrayed by Jisoo of the famed K-pop group Blackpink. The drama series, produced by JTBC Studios and Drama House, plays on JTBC's network in Korea. In the rest of the world, it is presented as a Disney Plus original. The series sparked a controversy over its historical accuracy, choice of songs and depiction of North Koreans.

Kim reportedly was filming for an upcoming series, "Kiss Six Sense", at the time of her death. Prior to "Snowdrop", she appeared in the 2018 short "Lipstick Revolution", the 2019 films "Memories" and "Kyungmi's World", the 2019 JTBC drama series "Human Luwak" as well as the 2020 shows "Hi Bye, Mama!" and "Into the Ring", according to JoongAng Daily.

Her sudden passing has been mourned by fans on social media. "She was only 30. Such a young age. I hope she rests in peace," one person reacted to the news. A fan of "Snowdrop" wrote, "Oh man, I'm really enjoying 'Snowdrop' these days. It's so unfortunate she had to leave so soon. I hope she goes somewhere better." Another added, "This is so sudden, I feel bad for her parents. I really hope she rests in peace and condolences to her family."
