The 30-year-old professional boxer has been pronounced dead after being gunned down in Maryland on Christmas Eve while traveling with his family to a holiday event.

AceShowbiz - Professional boxer Danny Kelly Jr. passed away following a violent incident on Christmas Eve. The 30-year-old athlete was driving his girlfriend and three children to a holiday event when a car pulled up next to the family vehicle and opened fire.

The fighter was hit by the bullet(s). He was unconscious when he was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was later pronounced dead in the hospital. His girlfriend and three children, 4, 7 and 9, were not injured.

Investigations were launched into the possible road rage incident, which happened in Temple Hills, Maryland. In an effort to find the shooter as soon as possible, "a reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case."

"This is an absolutely heartbreaking loss for Mr. Kelly's family and friends. He is not home with his loved ones today on Christmas who are now mourning his loss instead of celebrating the holiday," Acting Major David Blazer of Prince George's County Police Department's Major Crimes Division said in a statement.

"St. Barnabas Road is a heavily traveled roadway. If any other drivers saw anything there on Christmas Eve or may have information that could help, please call us. You can stay anonymous. We are committed to providing answers to his family."

Kelly's godmother, Bernadine Walker, said of the recently deceased boxer, "He was a wonderful dad. He loved his babies. He loved his children."

His grieving cousin said, "I still can't believe that he won't answer my call. Which is crazy because I was just with him."

Retired pro boxer Luther F. Smith Jr. paid tribute to the fallen star, "What I can tell you is that he was a family man just making it the best way he could. And he damn sure didn't deserve to be cut short from life like this."
