Nick Cannon Breaks Down in Tears as He Announces Baby Son Dies of Brain Cancer

The 'Nick Cannon Show' host gets emotional as he struggles to cope with his youngest son Zen's passing following a secret battle with a malignant brain tumor.

AceShowbiz - Nick Cannon is mourning the loss of his child. The 41-year-old father of seven got emotional as he broke the sad news on his show. 5-month-old baby Zen, his youngest child, passed away following a battle with Hydrocephalus, a form of brain cancer.

The star, who welcomed Zen with model Alyssa Scott in June this year, opened up on his son's secret health issues for the first time on "Nick Cannon Show". He started to notice the baby had breathing problem and his head seemed large at just two months old.

"I always noticed he had a cough and so I wanted to check it out," he revealed. "He had this interesting breathing and by the time he was two months I noticed he had this nice sized head too - a Cannon head. We didn't think anything of it. But I wanted to take him to the doctor for his sinus and breathing. We thought it would be routine."

Turned out it wasn't just a routine visit as doctors recommended an immediate surgery for the baby to drain the fluid which had started to build up in his head due to a malignant tumor. However, the tumor quickly grew in his head and things took a turn for the worse at Thanksgiving.

The baby sadly died last weekend following a trip to ocean with mom and dad. "This weekend I made an effort to spend the most quality time with Zen. We woke up on Sunday and went to the ocean with him and Alyssa and then I had to fly back to New York for the show," Nick cried. "I got a call on my way to the airport to head back to Zen."

"You can't heal until you feel," he added, dedicating the episode to his late son. He also said he sought professional help to help him cope with the heartbreaking loss, "It's tough. And I have my therapist here, who's been helping us through it."

Nick Cannon welcomed four children in the last year. He welcomed daughter Powerful with model Brittany Bell, whom he already shares a son with, in December 2020. He then welcomed twin sons Zion and Zillion with DJ Abby De La Rosa in June this year. Baby Zen arrived later that month after the twins were born.

He also has twin son and daughter with ex-wife Mariah Carey.

The star recently said he was celibate as he wanted to "take a break" from having any more kids. "I have enough children, enough frolicking, I'm good right now," he noted.

His comment was made after he initially told paparazzi he was open to having more additions to his brood following baby Zen's birth.
