The 'Hawkeye' actor is giving back to the community by building a fire station in Lake Tahoe, where he has a house, in an effort to help battle wildfires in the region.

AceShowbiz - Jeremy Renner is proving a real-life superhero for his neighbours in Lake Tahoe - he's building a fire station for the community.

The "Hawkeye" actor has a home in the area, which borders California and Nevada, and he decided to step up following a spate of wildfires that have ravaged the region.

"I'm building a (fire) station up at the house in Tahoe because it is a hot zone for fires," Renner told pop star Kelly Clarkson on her U.S. daytime talk show.

"(I'm) creating some defensible space and businesses just to protect the community. Tahoe got struck pretty hard (by recent fires) so I work with the fire departments up there. They're pretty awesome, they're teaching me and helping me."

"I've still got to get some more hours in with them but... it's lovely to give back to the community. I love to do it, I love being in the outdoors, and it gives me something to do in my off times."

Last year, Jeremy Renner teamed up with the likes of Robert Downey Jr., Michael Keaton, and J.K. Simmons for "Aiding Australia" amid the country's struggle with wildlife fire.

They raised funds to help the recovery Down Under. Memorabilia was donated by Downey Jr., Tobey Maguire, Tim Allen, Larry David, Ben Mendelsohn, Peter Billingsley, Vince Vaughn, the cast of "Star Trek Picard", and more.

The charity dinner and concert was hosted by "Bohemian Rhapsody" composer John Ottman at his home in West Hollywood.
