AceShowbiz - Kacey Musgraves' cheeky naked "Saturday Night Live" performance was a last-minute decision. The country star hit the stage for a live rendition of "Justified" at the beginning of October 2021, wearing nothing but a pair of cowboy boots, and covered up her modesty with a guitar.
"It was an idea that hit me last minute," she tells V Magazine. "A lot of my ideas come like a lightning bolt with no explanation. I was getting a work-out and I had this image pop into my mind of (Robin Wright Penn's character) Jenny from 'Forrest Gump', naked on a stool. I just thought... I had to do it."
"I thought there was a lot of symbolism there for me. This (album 'Star-Crossed') is the most naked that I have been artistically. So why not make it literal?"
"SNL" insiders revealed Musgraves' team gathered around her with large towels after her rehearsal performance, so she could stand and walk off stage.
One source took to Reddit and wrote, "Pretty sure she was actually naked. I was on the audience side closest to her. Right before her first song, they set up a moveable wall, blocking the audience from seeing her. After the song, they moved it back to cover her again and covered her with some sort of towel/robe. She was super chill, kinda walked off stage in the towel and waved."
A representative for Musgraves also confirmed her nakedness. To Variety, the rep stated, "She was nude. Precautions were taken, and this was the first time it's happened on the show."
