AceShowbiz - Cynthia Nixon has added more fuel to rumors that her character Miranda Hobbes on "Sex and the City" reboot "And Just Like That…" will come out as gay. The actress fueled the speculations as she filmed an LGBTQ+ rally scene.
On Sunday, November 21, the "Ratched" actress was caught filming a scene depicting an LGBTQ+ rally for the new HBO Max spin-off show in Foley Square, New York City. During the scene, the 55-year-old star was seen bellowing with fellow actors as they acted out a protest scenario supporting LGBTQ+ rights.
The scene could be linked in a storyline to Broadway star Sara Ramirez, who will play the new character Che Diaz. The character has been described as a non-binary, queer, stand-up comedian that hosts a podcast which Carrie, played by Sarah Jessica Parker, is regularly featured on.
Previously, HBO Max has addressed Sara's character in a statement. "Che is a big presence with a big heart whose outrageous sense of humor and progressive, human overview of gender roles has made them and their podcast very popular," so read the message.
As for Miranda's sexuality, fans have been speculating about it since the first trailer of "And Just Like That..." dropped. The topic was explored further as in the first season of "Sex and the City" Miranda posed as a lesbian to get ahead at her law firm.
A clip from the show itself has already shown Miranda and Che having a one-on-one dinner. This prompted fans to speculate whether this signaled a big coming out moment for Cynthia's character.
In the video, Carrie said herself in the trademark voiceover narration for the new show, "Life is full of surprises." Shortly after the sneak peek was released, one fan excitedly tweeted, "They have definitely made Miranda gay. Grey, gay and fabulous! Here for it!"
However, it was Kim Cattrall's character Samantha Jones that would be the first of the four leads to having a same-sex relationship. In season four, Samantha dated Maria Reyes, played by Sonia Braga.
