The first LP the 'Waterloo' hitmakers release in 40 years has sold more than a million copies in its first week on sale, and become the fastest-selling album in Britain in 2021.

AceShowbiz - ABBA's new release "Voyage" has topped album charts in 17 countries after selling more than a million copies in its first week on sale.

The "Waterloo" hitmakers' first LP in 40 years was released on November 5 and soared to the top of the U.K. Official Albums Chart.

It's the 10th number one for the Swedish foursome, and "Voyage" has also become the fastest-selling album in Britain this year (2021), having registered the biggest first-week sales in four years.

New data has also revealed "Voyage" is topping album charts in 17 different countries, and it has also been streamed more than 190 million times to date.

"We are so happy that our fans seem to have enjoyed our new album as much as we enjoyed making it! We are absolutely over the moon to have an album at the top of the charts again," ABBA's bandmembers said in a statement.

The news comes as the "Mamma Mia" singers also achieved new heights with their greatest hits album, "GOLD", which reached landmark BRIT Certified 20x Platinum status in the U.K. this week (ends November 19).

"GOLD" debuted at number one in September 1992 and has gone on to be the U.K.'s second-best-selling album of all time, behind Queen's "Greatest Hits" album.

"Gold going 20x Platinum is an extraordinary achievement and shows - along with the great success of Voyage - just how well-loved Abba are and how their enduring appeal truly spans generations," said British Phonographic Industry (BPI)'s Rob Crutchley, who oversees the BRIT Certified Awards.

Earlier this week, ABBA announced their first ever Christmas single, "Little Things", which will drop on December 3.
