The Coldplay lead vocalist sees no issues with the space travel, comparing the out-of-this-world exploration to an 'amazing' Disneyland theme park attraction.

AceShowbiz - Chris Martin has compared space exploration to a Disneyland theme park attraction.

In recent weeks, environmentalists have criticised Jeff Bezos, whose rocket took celebrity passenger William Shatner into space for 10 minutes.

While the likes of Prince William have called for entrepreneurs to focus on saving the planet, rather than pouring their wealth into finding "the next place to go and live," the Coldplay frontman sees no issue with the new trend.

"It's like an amazing Disneyland ride," he beamed, according to Britain's Daily Star newspaper. "I respect those people because there might be really hopeful things for making life on Earth better for everyone and someone has to do it."

Chris would love to launch himself into orbit, but admitted, "I don't think I can afford it. I would at some point, if there was a reason or we were going exploring or something. I don't know about going up to come back down again."

And the "Higher Power" star is hopeful of meeting new life one day.

"In terms of other life forms in the universe, we are open to believing anything," he added. "It's so huge, the possibilities are endless."

William Shatner also defended the space tourism. "The idea here is not to go, 'Yeah, look at me. I'm in space'," he said. "I would tell the Prince, and I hope the Prince gets the message, 'This is a baby step into the idea of getting industry up there... We've got all the technology, the rockets, to send the things up there... You can build a base 250, 280 miles above the Earth and send that power down here... All it needs is... somebody as rich as Jeff Bezos (to say), 'Let's go up there.' "
