The 'Hell on Heels' singer reveals she is preparing for chemotherapy treatment this week after she has been diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer following 'some routine lab work.'

AceShowbiz - Pistol Annies star Ashley Monroe has revealed she's battling a rare form of blood cancer.

The musician has opened up about her diagnosis in an Instagram post, alongside images featuring her husband, John Danks, their son Dalton, and her bandmates, Miranda Lambert and Angaleena Presley.

"A few months ago my dr. was doing some routine lab work and found that I was anemic," she explains. "I was like, FINE, I'll just double up on cheeseburger patties, take some extra vitamins and call it a day."

"Short story long, they did a bone marrow biopsy, (ouch), and VOILA... a rare kind of blood c word called 'waldenstrom macroglobulinemia'. It's causing my body to be pretty severely anemic, and I feel it."

Monroe will begin chemotherapy treatment on Wednesday (14Jul21), but assures fans she's going to be OK and she is "thankful I have an illness that is VERY live with-able. (sic)"

"I'm thankful there IS a treatment that actually works to fight what is causing harm to my body."

The singer/songwriter also asks fans and followers to hold off with their "unsolicited advice or medical opinions," explaining she has been doing her research and trusts the experts at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

"I do believe in the power of prayer guys," she said. "I also believe in the power of love healing us all on an even deeper level."

The news comes three months after Monroe released her fifth solo album, "Rosegold", in April (21).
