Named the 'Daddy Mix by Daddy Yankee,' the fizzy drink features tropical notes and is inspired by the vibe of the 'Despacito' hitmaker's homeland as well as his music.

AceShowbiz - Latin superstar Daddy Yankee is serving up a taste of the tropics with his new limited-edition flavor for soda brand Sprite.

The "Despacito" hitmaker has become only the second celebrity to help create his own flavor for the drinks manufacturer - after basketball ace LeBron James, and it's the first time beverage bosses have partnered with an artist from Puerto Rico.

Named the "Daddy Mix by Daddy Yankee," the fizzy drink features tropical notes and is inspired by the vibe of the rapper's homeland, as well as the star's music, reports Billboard. Its can and boxing features his initials, signature and emoji from his 2021 hit "Problema". It will become available for purchase in Puerto Rico for a limited time.

Explaining why Yankee was the "perfect partner" for the special launch, Michelle Serrano, product life manager at Sprite Puerto Rico, said, "The 'Big Boss' brings you his tropical mix Daddy Mix by Daddy Yankee with the same intensity of our original lemon-lime formula that quenches your thirst with a perfect tropical twist for this summer."

Just weeks earlier, Yankee was announced to be the recipient of 2021 Premios Juventud's Agent of Change award. Ignacio Meyer, SVP of Music, Nonfiction, and Development at Univision, stated, "At 'Premios Juventud,' we have celebrated Daddy Yankee for his enormous contributions to Latin Music as a global icon."

"This year, we are proud to honor his exemplary role as a humanitarian driving change in our community and the world," Meyer added. "His outstanding work helping the most vulnerable, whether it is with Daddy's House or supporting other initiatives, makes him an inspiration to our youth and one of this year’s recipients of our prestigious 'Agent of Change' award."
