The critically-acclaimed stage musical by the former Talking Heads star will be back in the Great White Way later this year after theater shows were halted due to pandemic.

AceShowbiz - Former Talking Heads star David Byrne's acclaimed stage musical "American Utopia" will return to Broadway on 17 September (21).

The show enjoyed a limited engagement on Broadway in 2019 and 2020, and now it has found a venue for its return - Jujamcyn's St. James Theatre, which is also the home for Bruce Springsteen's New York theatre comeback over the summer.

Byrne will bring back his original American Utopia band for the performances.

"It is with great pleasure that finally, after a year+ like no other, I can announce that our show is coming back to Broadway," Byrne said. "You who kept the faith, who held on to your tickets, well, you knew this would happen eventually! September 17 - remount previews begin."

"We're moving to the St. James Theatre - just down 44th Street from the Hudson, where we were before. The stage is a little wider and the capacity is a little bigger - I guess we did alright! Seriously, New York is back, and given all we've witnessed, felt and experienced, it is obvious to me that no one wants to go back to a world with EVERYTHING the way it was - we have an opportunity for a new world here. See you there."

The upcoming Broadway return came three months after David Byrne launched a social distance dance club in New York City.

Only 100 participants will be welcomed into the venue at any one time to bust their own moves or follow the spoken choreography in a voiceover from Byrne.
