Cristiano Ronaldo Drops Coca-Cola's Value by $4 Billion After Snubbing the Drink in Press Release

French footballer Paul Pogba follows Cristiano's move by removing a bottle of non-alcoholic Heineken beer that is placed in front of him during a press conference.

AceShowbiz - Cristiano Ronaldo might not realize that his recent move has a major impact on Coca-Cola. After the professional soccer player removed two bottles of the drink during a UEFA Euro 2020 press conference, the company's market value is said to have dropped by $4 billion.

The company's market cap fell from $242 billion to $238 billion following the athlete's rejection, according to ESPN. As for its share price, it reportedly dropped 1.6 percent from $56.17 to $55.22.

This came after Ronaldo looked irritated when he saw two bottles of the carbonated soft drink in a Monday, 14 June press conference. Ronaldo, who scored two of three goals in Portugal's win over Hungary, then moved the beverages and picked up a bottle of water. He then exclaimed to the camera, "Agua!" which means water in Portuguese.

Coca-Cola, which is one of the official sponsors for the UEFA Euro 2020 tournament, has yet to respond to Ronaldo's action. UEFA, however, already weighed in on the matter by releasing a statement that read, "Coca-Cola offers a range of drinks to suit different tastes and needs, which are available to players throughout the tournament."

"This includes waters, isotonic sports drinks and juices, coffee and tea, as well as Coca-Cola," the message continued to read. "Players are offered water, alongside Coca-Cola and Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, on arrival at our press conferences and can choose their preferred beverage."

Ronaldo was not the only one who snubbed a certain drink during a press conference. French footballer Paul Pogba also removed a bottle of non-alcoholic Heineken beer in front of him as he spoke to the media following France and Germany's match.

Pobga, however, has previously declared that he doesn't drink alcohol. Taking to his Twitter account in 2017, he penned, "I don't drink alcohol man, but happy birthday."
