While she is surprised upon learning her 'Fool's Gold' and 'How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days' co-star is entering politics, the actress believes that he 'has a real chance' at winning the position.

AceShowbiz - Kate Hudson has just learned that Matthew McConaughey was considering a run for Texas Governor. Not believing that her "Fool's Gold" and "How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days" co-star is entering politics, the actress admitted to feeling surprised by the news.

When sitting down with Rob Lowe on his "Literally!" podcast, the 47-year-old actress was first asked whether she was going to help "with his campaign for governor of Texas if he so decides to run." While she was left speechless, the host then stated, "That was a long pause... Can I just say for the record, that was a very long pause."

After collecting her thoughts, the daughter of Goldie Hawn replied, "Sorry, hold on. Let me just take a sip of my [drink]." She then added, "I have not heard this. This is the first I'm hearing of McConaughey getting into politics."

"He's a really interesting guy," Hudson continued. "I, honestly, if he does want to get into politics, I believe that Matthew, you probably wouldn't get a politician who would care as much as he does, you know? I think he's very authentic in how much heart, um, but the governor of Texas is a big job. I mean, is that what we're talking about? The governor of Texas? ... Oh, wow."

During the chat, Lowe joked that McConaughey should use "Alright, alright, alright" as a bumper sticker. In response, Hudson laughed and said, "I think he'd encourage that. But I actually feel like he'd have a real chance."

Lowe went on to tell Hudson that McConaughey had polled higher than Governor Greg Abbott in a survey, earning a 45% poll as opposed to the incumbent's 33%. Reacting to the news, the "Almost Famous" star noted, "Wait, Rob, sorry, this is really shocking to me. This is how out of it I am... I'm one of those people who, I don't look at things... I turn my news ticker off. So, clearly, I've missed this."

McConaughey hinted he was "considering" a run for Texas governor in early March. When speaking on "The Balanced Voice" podcast, he spilled, "I'm looking into now again, 'what is my leadership role?' .... Because I do think I have some things to teach and share. What is my role, what is my category in my next chapter of life that I'm going into now?"
