The former MLB outfielder is reportedly in police custody after he surrendered himself for an incident with an ex-girlfriend during which he was alleged to pull out a gun on her while choking her.

AceShowbiz - Carl Crawford has gotten in trouble with the law. The former baseball player turned music label CEO has reportedly been arrested in Texas for an alleged domestic violence incident with an ex-girlfriend that took place back in May.

The 38-year-old, according to TMZ, is being held on $10,000 bond after he surrendered to the Harris County Sheriff's office on Thursday, June 4. He was charged with a felony assault of a family member by impeding breathing, which is a code for choking allegation.

Court documents uncovered that the alleged assault happened on May 8 at the Houston, Texas apartment belonging to Crawford's ex-girlfriend. She claimed that he pulled out a semi-automatic handgun on her after she agreed to meet him to talk about their break-up, and threatened to hurt her when he began interrogating her about a man she had been seeing.

The former MLB star, who was said to be dating the victim for two and a half years, was further alleged to have "held the gun in one hand, and used the other hand to grab her by the head and neck, while asking her how long she had been dating a male acquaintance." Per court documents, he slammed her head against the wall several times while accusing her of lying.

It was not until the woman's one-year-old daughter walked over to her that she managed to free herself and fled. TMZ additionally reported that police "observed pink areas on the woman's neck and an injury to her right hand" when they responded to her call. She also claimed that in the wake of the incident, Crawford sent her a text message that read, "That wasn't a beating u just mad I made u confess."

Crawford's arrest came weeks after a tragic drowning of a child and a woman at his Houston, Texas home. Details about the incident were unclear, but the ex-Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder has issued a statement via Instagram. "My Hearts Heavy," his May 23 post read. "The tragic events that occurred at my home will be with me forever."

"I'm at a loss for words I've struggled all week to manage my emotions and I keep thinking of the families of those who've passed and their grief, I know they have it the hardest," his statement continued to read. "They are the first and last thing I think of these days. Please keep them in your prayers, I know they will always be in mine."
