AceShowbiz - Kylie Minogue's forthcoming self-titled album will see the star returning to her pop music roots.
The Australian star's last LP, 2018's "Golden", saw the singer experiment with a more country-driven sound, but speaking to British GQ magazine, she revealed the forthcoming Kylie is "grown-up disco."
"(It's) difficult even for me to explain," she said. "But even grown-ups need some pure pop fun."
Reflecting on the resurgence of the disco sound from the '70s in recent years, Kylie commented, "It's all cyclical, right? I loved disco as an eight-year-old, so it's been a long love affair."
"I'm loving the modern interpretations of the genre now," she said, before revealing her new sound also has an early-'00s influence. "There's a lot of early 2000s love around at the moment. Both feel like good times for me, so I'm channelling that into this record."
The "Spinning Around" star also confessed the Covid-19 crisis and lockdown also encouraged her to produce an uplifting record.
"The songs that are pure escapism have even stronger purpose," she said.
