AceShowbiz - With the "hallyu" wave of South Korea in the U.S. right now, many K-Pop bands have started to spread their wings stateside. It's surely not an easy thing to do, as there are only a few who actually make it big in the U.S. Among them is NCT 127, a sub-unit of NCT.
With teen idol good looks, enviable style, amazing vocals and skilled dance skill, it's easy to see why a lot of people are addicted to the nine-piece boyband. The proof of that could be seen in how well their music perform in charts, including their latest album "Neo Zone".
The record, which hit the stores on March 6, opened at No. 5 on Billboard 200. Selling more than 80,000 equivalent unit albums, it marked NCT 127's highest-charting album in the country. They also joined a few number of K-Pop groups, including BTS a.k.a. Bangtan Boys, who have made it to the top five of the weekly charts.
Furthermore, the album was well received by music critics. Alexis Hodoyan-Gastelum of Consequence of Sound said that "Neo Zone" showed NCT 127 at their best. According to the critic, it "checks off all the boxes when it comes to playing to their strengths, which include vocal versatility, a diversified selection of hip-hop and R&B jams, and giving fans a fun, good time."
NCT 127 is set to hit the road in the U.S. to promote the album. Talking about their upcoming trek in an interview, member Doyoung teased, "I hope our fans expect to see the very diverse sides of our group and a lot of new performances. And on days we're not performing, I want to explore the cities we visit and make memories there!"
Meanwhile, Yuta said, "We've been preparing a lot of songs and performances that specifically point to our memories with our fans and also lots of cool individual performances, so you can look forward to that!"
