The actor known as Kim Cattrall's love interest Smith Jerrod on the HBO hit series got engaged to his longtime girlfriend over the 2019 holiday season, and is planning for a fall 2021 wedding.

AceShowbiz - Jason Lewis has given an inside look at his romantic sunset proposal to Liz Godwin. The actor famous as Kim Cattrall's love interest Smith Jerrod on "Sex and the City" got engaged to his longtime girlfriend over the 2019 holiday season, and opened up, in a new interview, about how he popped the question.

Speaking about his December proposal, the 48-year-old shared with PEOPLE, "To keep Liz from suspecting anything, I organized a climbing [and] beach day out at Point Dume, Malibu, with friends and family gathered for the holidays." He continued, "We set Liz up to climb a cliff right over the water, just before sunset."

Jason went on to dish, "My buddies and I then sprinted up a back trail to the climb so I could be waiting for her at the top." With a backdrop of a California sunset and an ocean view, he then "anchored myself to the rock - clipped her to me, just in case - then got on one knee and did 'the thing.' "

On how Liz thought about Jason's proposal, she confessed, "I never saw it coming! I'm overwhelmed with emotions and feelings I never knew I had." Stating that she can't wait to spend the rest of her life with the "Midnight, Texas" star, she gushed, "Our relationship is the most nurturing, playful and ever-evolving relationship I have ever had."

In the interview, Jason also spilled on what spurred his decision to ask Liz's hand in marriage. "She loves me when I am amazing, and when I am not," he raved. "She is always on my side and ever my support. She creates space for me in which I grow and I am a better man for knowing her, so the humble ask to take her as my wife, and of course her 'yes,' are absolute blessings to my life."

Jason and Liz first met each other at a party in Miami more than four years ago. They got engaged on December 27, 2019, and are planning to wed in the Fall of 2021. In his Instagram post about their engagement, Jason thanked "all of [his] dear friends who helped in so many ways make this magical day possible."
