The 'You're Still the One' hitmaker gets candid about her marriage to her husband, whom she first bonded with over their shared heartache following their ex-spouse's affair with each other.

AceShowbiz - Shania Twain has opened up more about her love story with husband Frederic Thiebaud. More than a decade after her 14-year marriage to Robert John "Mutt" Lange fell apart, the "You're Still the One" hitmaker reflected in an interview on how she found love once again in the Swiss entrepreneur and businessman.

Gracing the cover of AARP magazine for its February/March 2020 issue, the 54-year-old country crooner described her relationship with Thiebaud as "twisted." Though she was quick to add, "But so beautifully twisted." Before they got together, Thiebaud was married to Marie-Anne, Twain's personal assistant and close friend who was having an affair with Lange.

Upon learning about Lange's infidelity, the five-time Grammy winner admitted that she fell into depression. "There were days I didn't really care if tomorrow came," she spilled in the interview. "Survival is everything. I was in quicksand. I panicked, like everybody does, but I didn't surrender. I found a way out."

Bonding with Thiebaud over their shared heartache, Twain soon found their friendship turning into romance. The two got engaged in 2010, the same year she finalized her divorce from Lange. Days after news of their engagement broke out, they tied the knot in a small ceremony in Rincon, Puerto Rico.

Aside from talking about her marriage, Twain also shared her view about getting older. "Age brings perspective," the mother of one pointed out. "Every day I learn something new. And I plan on doing that till the day I die."

Elsewhere in the interview, Twain discussed about finally feeling comfortable in her own skin. "I'm more comfortable with my body now than I was when I was younger," she stated. "It was really a struggle back then. But with age, you ask: 'OK, how many more years do I have to live, and do I really want to live them feeling negative about myself and the things I can't change?'
