Grammys 2020: Lauren London Has the Sweetest Tribute to Nipsey Hussle

The late rapper's grandmother Margaret Boutte also joins Lauren to accept Nipsey's first Grammy after posthumously winning the Best Rap Performance category for 'Racks in the Middle'.

AceShowbiz - Lauren London attended the 2020 Grammy Awards at the Los Angeles Staples Center on behalf of her late partner Nipsey Hussle on Sunday, January 26. The 35-year-old made sure to bring something that reminded everyone to the slain rapper, who posthumously won his first Grammy that night, and her tribute was the sweetest thing ever.

Lauren graced the red carpet in a sparkling black ensemble that made her look chic and stylish. She paired the look with a necklace that featured a photo of her longtime love Nipsey, who was shot and killed last year at the age of 33.

During the award-giving event, Lauren took the stage to receive Nipsey's first Grammy after winning the Best Rap Performance category for "Racks in the Middle". "I speak on behalf of our family and in honor of Nip, who was a phenomenal vessel," she said in her award acceptance speech. "Nip did it not just for the awards, but for the people. God allowed him to use this music to speak his truth, give his wisdom and something we will forever be able to live with."

Nipsey's grandmother Margaret Boutte, who also joined Lauren at the stage, added, "I wanted to thank all of you for showing all the love that I have felt for him all of his life and always will live in my heart. Thank you, thank you."

Grammys also prepared a commemorative performance fo Nipsey featuring John Legend, DJ Khaled, Meek Mill, Roddy Ricch, YG and Kirk Franklin. "An activist, entrepreneur and rapper, Nipsey Hussle had a lasting impact on not just his community, but also the culture at large," Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich said in a statement earlier this month.

"There is no denying the influence he had and his legacy will be felt for generations to come. We are honored to bring together this amazing group of artists to celebrate Nipsey's life and pay tribute to his many contributions to music. It's sure to be a memorable performance," Ken continued.
