The former business partner of Jay-Z has been wanted by the police since 2015 for failing to make payments for both his ex-girlfriend, Cindy Morales, and his ex-wife, Rachel Roy.

AceShowbiz - Troubled rap mogul Damon Dash was arrested in New York on Wednesday, November 20, after racking up more than $400,000 (£310,000) in outstanding child support.

The 49-year-old had been wanted by police for several years after failing to make payments to ex-girlfriend Cindy Morales, with whom he shares a son, and his former wife, designer Rachel Roy, the mother of his two daughters.

Jay-Z's former business partner reportedly fled the Big Apple to avoid arrest, but returned this week to try and clear up the legal trouble.

"We've been looking to arrest him since 2015," Sheriff Joseph Fucito told the New York Post's Page Six.

The first felony warrant, relating to child support for Morales, was issued in April, 2015, while a second warrant was issued by a Bronx Family Court judge in March after Dash skipped payments to Roy.

According to TMZ, Dash headed into a Manhattan courthouse on Wednesday to pay off one of the tabs, and as he was about to head to Brooklyn to settle the second bill, he was approached by a group of police officers, who placed him in handcuffs.

He was then escorted to Brooklyn, where he handed over money for the balance of his debt, and he was subsequently released from custody.

The news of Dash's arrest emerges days after he filed court papers in Manhattan as part of a business lawsuit, claiming he was struggling to come up with the $2,400 (£1,900) he owed in fees as he has no salary and his current ventures are not making a profit.

Adding to his financial difficulties is the fact that his fiancee, Raquel Horn, is pregnant, which has led to unexpected medical expenses.
