The 'A Star Is Born' songstress is signed on for a major role in the Ridley Scott-directed true-story movie about the 1995 killing of fashion legend's grandson.

AceShowbiz - Filmmaker Ridley Scott will direct Lady GaGa as the lead in a new film about the assassination of Maurizio Gucci.

The singer/actress has signed on to play the starring role of Patrizia Reggiani, who was tried and convicted of orchestrating the murder of her husband Maurizio, the grandson of fashion legend Guccio Gucci, on the steps of his office in 1995.

Reggiani served 18 years behind bars for the killing before being released from prison in 2016.

Ridley's wife Giannina Scott will produce the film for Scott Free Productions from a script penned by Roberto Bentivegna, reports Deadline.

This is the first film role for Lady GaGa, real name Stefani Germanotta, since she starred in hit 2018 remake "A Star Is Born" with Bradley Cooper, which landed the singer an Oscar for her work writing the soundtrack tune, "Shallow".
