AceShowbiz - Rihanna might not be the reason why Iggy Azalea called it quits with Nick Young, but the basketball player admits to having had his eyes on the Barbadian singer as well when he was dating the Australian rapper. In the first episode of his "Certified Buckets" podcast, the NBA star, also known as Swaggy P, revealed he once shot his shot with the R&B superstar, but couldn't pursue it further because of his relationship with Iggy.
Nick recalled he was trying to impress Rih when she was sitting courtside at Lakers game in 2014. "I had a good game, so [the reporters] asked me why ... and I said, you know, Rihanna was there," he said on the podcast.
According to the 34-year-old athlete, the "Diamonds" songstress took notice of his shout-out and gave a positive signal to him, but he chose to respect his relationship with Iggy instead. "She hit me back, but I couldn't go full throttle with it because I was like, in the beginning stages of my relationship with [Iggy]," so he claimed.
The confession prompted co-host and actor Sarunas J. Jackson to say that Nick made the wrong decision. "WRONG ONE MAN!" the "Insecure" star shouted, adding, "You coulda been King of Barbados! You could have been first man of Barbados right now!"
Nick, however, didn't seem to regret missing his chance with Rihanna though. "I think I did pretty good, though. It worked out for a little bit," he said of his relationship with Iggy.
Nick and Iggy dated since late 2013 and got engaged in 2015. The "Work" raptress broke off her engagement to the athlete a year later after a video of the former Golden State Warriors star admitting to have had an affair with another woman surfaced. It was later revealed that Keonna Green was pregnant with Nick's second child.
Keonna is Nick's high school sweetheart whom he dated on-and-off since 2002. They have three children together, a son born in 2012, a daughter who was born in 2016, and their second son who was born in 2019.
