The 'Suicide Squad' actor was not happy when Joaquin Phoenix was tapped to portray the psychopathic supervillain, that he previously played in 'Suicide Squad', for the Todd Phillips-directed movie.

AceShowbiz - Jared Leto reportedly was not thrilled at DC producers for casting a different actor in "Joker" movie. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 30 Seconds to Mars lead vocalist felt "alienated and upset" as Joaquin Phoenix was signed on for the lead role in the new origin film.

Phoenix himself was initially reluctant to take the role and only agreed after asking his family for input. "My whole family read it," he said. "It's not a standard practice but we were all together at the time and I was making the decision and was curious what they thought."

47-year-old Jared Leto was first introduced as the infamous DC mental clown in 2016's David Ayer-directed "Suicide Squad". While the anti-hero film received mixed reviews from fans, the actor's on-screen performance got lukewarm response from movie goers.

The rocker was also snubbed from another DC movie "Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn" that focuses on Joker's love interest. Meanwhile, his "Suicide Squad" co-star Margot Robbie is back reprising her role as the pigtailed badass.
