The star of the inaugural season of the CBS reality competition series died on September 25 after suffering a head injury in a car accident that left her in a coma.

"Rest In Peace Cassandra. Your light will continue to shine in this world because of the way you lived your life: with class and grace," the 49-year-old TV host wrote along with photos of Cassandra. She added, "May your family and loved ones find solace and peace. Thank you for bringing your intelligence, warmth and wisdom to the Big Brother house Season 1. You are in my thoughts and in my prayers. May God Bless your soul."

Fans reacted to the death of the former reality TV star on the comment section of Julie's post, with one writing, "Oh how sad!!! She was a highlight of that season." Another added, "rest in peace to one of the nicest houseguests ever :((((("

Cassandra reportedly passed away in a car crash overseas on September 25, but it's not until a few days ago the news broke. She was working for the United Nations in Rome as its Director of Communications for the International Fund for Agricultural Development when the accident occurred.

According to reports, Cassandra was hit by a car two months ago and suffered a head injury that left her in a coma. She supposedly never regained consciousness before her death. She was 56.

Cassandra joined the first season of "Big Brother" which aired in 2000. She had a master's degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies. In her "Big Brother" introduction, she said, "My work is very, very challenging, and rewarding, but I needed something exciting in my life. I've got to try this! I've got to see if I can do it! I have a lot of friends who are very supportive of me in my life, and I'm going to miss them."
