AceShowbiz - "The Big Bang Theory" stars Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik are reteaming for a new comedy series inspired by comedian Miranda Hart's self-titled British show.

Renamed "Carla" for the U.S., Bialik will star as the owner of a cat-lovers' cafe in New Orleans, Louisiana, while Parsons will executive produce alongside his former TV wife.

Darlene Hunt has adapted "Carla" for American TV and she will also executive produce the series for Fox Entertainment.

Announcing the news, Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn says, "Carla is an unapologetically big, broad multi-cam (camera) with a strong female point-of-view, pushing the format in a way that will be distinctive."

The British version, "Miranda", ran for three seasons between 2009 and 2013, as well as a number of one-off specials, and became one of the top-rated British comedy series of the last decade, picking up a slew of top TV accolades.

Meanwhile, Bialik is also set to make her debut as a screenwriter and director with new comedy movie "As Sick As They Made Us".

"The Big Bang Theory" star will draw from her own experiences when she makes the project, which revolves around a divorced mother who struggles to help her estranged brother visit their father on his deathbed.
