In a new episode of HBO's talk show 'The Shop: Uninterrupted', the 'Old Town Road' hitmaker explains why he chose to reveal his sexual orientation when he was at the top.

AceShowbiz - Lil Nas X felt compelled to reveal his sexuality as his summer hit "Old Town Road" was breaking chart records, because he grew up hating everything about homosexuality and wanted to change that for young fans.

The rapper came out earlier this summer and in a new episode of HBO talk show "The Shop: Uninterrupted", which debuted on Tuesday night (September 3) in America, he explains why he couldn't hide his secret any longer.

"It's not like I was being forced," he said. "It's just like knowing growing up, I'm growing up to hate this s**t.... Homosexuality, gay people...".

"If, for me, the cool dude with the song on top of everything, to say this at any other time, I'm doing this for attention... But if you're doing this while you're at the top, you know it's for real. It's showing it doesn't really matter, I guess."

The show also featured comedian Kevin Hart, who stepped down as the host of this year's Oscars after homophobic posts were pulled from his Twitter account from a decade ago.

The show was taped before Hart's weekend car crash, which put the funnyman in the hospital with severe back injuries.
