AceShowbiz - Gwyneth Paltrow had no idea that Samuel L. Jackson was part of Marvel Cinematic Universe, despite having starred in several movies together with the actor. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige revealed in a new interview with Empire that the actress was confused when she saw Jackson, who has appeared as Nick Fury in a bunch of Marvel films, on the set of "Avengers: Endgame".
During a Q&A for the home video release of the last "Avengers" movie, Feige revealed that the filming of Tony Stark's funeral at the lake house "was shot in October 2017, the day we shot the 10th anniversary photo." He explained, "That's why we did that photo then, because we had everybody there."
Dishing on the atmosphere at the time, he said, "And it was astounding, having all those actors there, and it's very solemn in the movie, because they're all great actors, it's very effective. On the day it was just insane."
Since "Endgame" was filmed back-to-back with "Avengers: Infinity War", that meant the funeral scene was shot before other films like "Black Panther", "Captain Marvel" and "Ant-Man and the Wasp" were released. Thus, some of the cast were stunned to find out that certain actors joined the MCU. "Tom Holland [was] coming up to me, saying, 'Is that Michelle Pfeiffer? What is happening?' " Feige recalled.
While Holland's question was understandable, Paltrow's reaction to Jackson's involvement in the scene surprised Feige and other stars. "Gwyneth Paltrow [was] asking why Sam Jackson was there, and the other actors [were] jumping in saying, 'What are you talking about? He's Nick Fury! You've been in movies with him,' " Feige shared, before adding, "But it was really something special."
This isn't the first time Paltrow showed her bluntness about the big superhero franchise. Earlier this year, it was revealed that she didn't know she was in "Spider-Man: Homecoming" until Jon Favreau reminded her.
And Marvel fans have apparently had enough of this, thinking it's not funny anymore that Paltrow didn't seem to show interest in Marvel movies. One commented on Feige's story, "I get that these stories are funny but it also just comes across like she couldn't care less about the biggest franchise of all time that was a huge part of an entire decade of her life."
"This was funny but now it's just disrespectful," an upset fan added. "Gwyneth Paltrow does not give a f**k about these films. She probably hasn't watched any of them, and it's clear she's just turning up for the cheque," another reacted. "Granted. I don't think Gwyneth had any scenes with Samuel L. Jackson. But, GURL."
