AceShowbiz - A new character is heading to upcoming season 10 of "The Walking Dead". The AMC apocalypse series will welcome Dante, a character from Robert Kirkman's comic, with Juan Javier Cardenas ("Snowfall", "Damnation" and "S.W.A.T.") taking on the role.
Cardenas' character was previously seen in the show's season 10. And now, the network is offering fans a better look at Dante with season 10 official images that also feature other characters of the long-running series.
Michonne (Danai Gurira), who is joined by Judith (Cailey Fleming), looks concerned in the photo as the rest of the communities are preparing for an inevitable war in season 10. Meanwhile, Carol (Melissa McBride), who left Ezekiel (Khary Payton) last season, is seen riding on the back of Daryl's (Norman Reedus) motorcycle.
In the comics, Dante is depicted as a character from the Hilltop. First appearing in issue #131, he is seen as the potential love interest for Maggie in the years which followed the death of Glenn. Although Maggie is hesitant at first, she eventually gives in and pursues romance with Dante. However, his storyline may be slightly differ in the TV adaptation since Maggie (Lauren Cohan) isn't going to be featured in season 10.
"We'll be meeting the character Dante from the comics," "The Walking Dead" showrunner Angela Kang said to Entertainment Weekly. "He is this roguish, fast-talking, sometimes charming, sometimes annoying guy who can sometimes put his foot in his mouth, but is an interesting presence in the comics."
"He's actually a love interest of Maggie," the showruner went on saying. "But in our world, the context is a little different, and he will play an important role in the story in Alexandria. So we're excited about that."
Season 10 of "The Walking Dead" is set to premiere on October 6 on AMC.
