In addition to landing a role, the 'Rock Is Dead' singer reveals that he and Shooter Jennings had recorded a cover of The Doors' track 'The End' for the 10-part mini-series.

AceShowbiz - Shock rocker Marilyn Manson has landed a new role in the TV adaptation of Stephen King's "The Stand".

The "Rock Is Dead" singer made the casting news official on Monday (July 07) as he revealed that he and Shooter Jennings had recorded a track for the new 10-part mini-series, which is set to hit screens next year (20).

"Shooter and I also did a cover of 'The End' by The Doors, for a new mini-series of 'The Stand' by Stephen King, which I'm also going to be acting in," Manson tells Revolver.

Details of his role have yet to be revealed, but the book, which was published in 1978, is set in an "apocalyptic vision of a world decimated by plague and embroiled in an elemental struggle between good and evil," according to a synopsis.

"The fate of mankind rests on the frail shoulders of the 108-year-old Mother Abagail and a handful of survivors. Their worst nightmares are embodied in a man with a lethal smile and unspeakable powers: Randall Flagg, the Dark Man."

Asked about the series in January, author King said, "The people involved are men and women who know exactly what they're doing; the scripts are dynamite. The result bids to be something memorable and thrilling. I believe it will take viewers away to a world they hope will never happen."

Manson has had a handful of TV acting jobs over the years, appearing in shows like "The New Pope", "Sons of Anarchy" and "Salem".
